Preston Richard Parish Council Website - Useful information
WHAT WOULD YOU DO IN AN EMERGENCY? ...............
We may meet many different emergencies in our lifetime and it is usually at that time we look at what we should have done to prepare. Of course, we cannot plan for every emergency but we can at least be as prepared as possible.
We look here at preparing for an area wide emergency and a household emergency.
AREA WIDE
Did you know Preston Richard has its own emergency plan? This was produced by the Parish Council and members of the public who put together a plan addressing likely scenarios that could befall our hamlet. This plan has been adopted by Westmorland & Furness Council (W&F) and if any incidents should occur we would work closely with W&F to hold the fort until help could arrive. The Preston Richard Emergency Plan (PREP) plan was formulated during the Covid pandemic when many volunteers in the parish swung into action to support those needing help. This was coordinated by Roger Gorman and from there it grew to cover other possible scenarios.
Please click here to view the full plan any member of the committee can be contacted in an area wide emergency situation
HOUSEHOLD PLAN
The Government produced a template for householder in the event of an emergency, this has been added to by the PREP group and is designed for all households to download and complete all relevant information that they may need should an emergency occur. It suggests a list of things you may need to take if you are likely to be out of the house for some time. It may be a good idea to lodge a copy of the plan with one of your reletives or neighbours in case you cannot get the plan youself, this at least will give you some knowledge that your desired contacts will be contacted.
